San Antonio International Airport (SAT)
Travel and Ground Transport

(San Antonio, Texas - TX, USA)

San Antonio International Airport (SAT) boasts plenty in the way of ground transport choices, which range from downtown shuttles, city buses, hotel shuttles, charter buses, luxury limos and sedans, and car rentals.

Public transport is readily available and connects San Antonio Airport with the city, as well as New Braunfels and Austin (northeast), Nuevo Laredo (southwest), Corpus Christi (southeast) and Houston (east). Both of the terminal buildings have a Ground Transportation Center and information area.

Buses

San Antonio Airport is served by many regular charter bus services. These travel from the terminal buildings to central San Antonio and other areas within the American Southwest. Charter bus companies include:
  • AAA Charter
  • Circa Texas
  • City Tours
  • Kid Kab
  • Lone Star Trolley
  • People Express
  • Rent a Van
  • World Trans

Those headed to the city center will likely find that the downtown shuttle (GO Airport) provides the best value and most convenient service, departing four times an hour, between 07:00 and 01:30. Shuttle tickets can be purchased within the baggage reclaim zone.

Hotel Shuttle

Numerous surrounding hotels now lay on their very own complimentary door-to-door shuttle service, collecting patrons from just outside of the baggage area. Courtesy phones are available at the dedicated hotel kiosk, although if you are in any doubt of what to expect, advance booking is recommended. Participating hotels currently include:
  • Aloft
  • Cambria Suites
  • Crowne Plaza
  • Doubletree
  • Drury Inn
  • Embassy
  • Hampton Inn
  • Hilton
  • Holiday Inn
  • Hyatt
  • La Quint
  • Marriot
  • Omni
  • Pear Tree Inn
  • Red Roof
  • SpringHill
  • Staybridge

Taxi Cabs

Taxi cabs may well appeal if you are looking for sheer convenience and cabs can be picked up on the lower level curbside, next to Terminals A and B. To save on costs, up to four people may share a taxi at any one time. The trip into downtown San Antonio should last some 20 minutes, with charges for waiting times, initial drops and late travel (between the hours of 21:00 and 05:00). Popular destinations linked by SAT taxis include:
  • Camp Bullis
  • Fiesta Texas
  • Fort Sam Houston
  • Kelly
  • Lackland
  • North Star Mall
  • Randolph
  • Sea World
  • University of Texas at San Antonio
  • Westin La Cantera
